How does a printer know when it has a monochrome cartridge?
BySometimes when you get a new ink cartridge for your printer to print the first time, the computer sometimes says, “Mono cartridge found”. More to the point, which is a black and white cartridge and what is the difference between this and the normal printer cartridge?printer cartridge

Monochrome means one color which is usually black. Your users’ guide should tell you what ink cartridges you need for your printer. You have to buy the size it says as other cartridges won’t fit.
My printer (a Hewlett Packard) uses
56 black cartridge
57 tri-color cartridge
I refill the cartridges as it is a lot cheaper. Some manufacturers will say that that voids the warranty. However, you will save more than enough money by refilling the cartridges to buy a new printer when the time comes.
