Printing pictures on the Samsung CPL-300 Color laser printer
By
In this video, I just wanted to see how good of color quality this printer would produce. It wasn’t as good as I was hoping for, but for $13 its a lot better then I thought. The only thing is, (at least when I printed the first two pictures) it printed them very dark, and it inked up the paper pretty heavy. But I just went into the settings and turned down all of the “colors gains” a few notches, and now it prints just fine and not so dark and muddy like you will see in these two pictures.

is there any way I can calibrate my printer for free? like the way I can calibrate my apple display? I want something free and easy that will work. Doesn’t need to be 100% color accurate, just a little better then it is.

Using something like the Datacolor Spyder calibration tool.
Looks like a rat stuck to your monitor while you calibrate it; then you take it off, and (at least) your white balance should be top notch. Don’t forget to set the correct printer profile to match the monitor output.

The display is calibrated using the Apple calibrater in system preferences. Is there a similar process for calibrating the printer? Where do I do that?

Did you calibrate your monitor and use appropriate colour profiles for your printer? If you did all of that, it shouldn’t come out darker.

No, I don’t know how long it will last. It depends on how much you print, but the toner will last forever.

No you can print on regular paper.
The paper I am using is the paper that they left in it (display model) and the paper that was in it is a think shiny, almost simi-gloss paper. (a little better then standard) but I’ve also use the cheap paper and it works fine.
Just don’t use HIGH-gloss paper. I hear the “ink” smears all over the paper because it has nothing to stick to!
