What is a good affordable color laser printer that does not have a toner kill chip?

Sorry, but all of the mainstream color lasers have “smart” toner cartridges. Rumor has it some are hackable.

Deskjet printers are manufactured to stop running if one of the cartridges is empty. This is to protect the print head that goes to the empty cartridge.
Laserjet printers are manufactured to stop printing if one of the toner cartridges goes empty.
HP makes the best printers for both home and office. But even theirs are manufactured with this technology.
If you can manage to afford a small color laserjet, you’d be better off in the long run. The toner, depending on the model, will get well over a 1000 pages per color toner cartridge and for black sometimes well over 2000 pages.
