Is buying a refurbished computer/scanner/printer or camera bad?
By laserI am considering buying a refurbished scanner to save money.

mmm depends on were u get it… from friends or people from schoool -NO!!!! but family or well known used electronic stores once u test it should be alright

its a great way to save money. referbs are just returned items. could be a simple problem or no problem at all it was returned for. make sure it comes with a warranty and it will be fine

Only from a store which specializes in refurbishing these items.

For me, it is economics. If that part new I want is $200.00 and a refurb is less than half, I would probably go for the refurb. Realizing that there may be no recourse if anything were to be wrong, or a shorter ‘warrantee’ period, if any.
If the refurb is more than half, i tend to want the newer, guaranteed version, instead.
So it really comes down to price and any sort of post-sale guarantee. Hope this helps,,,GL and thanks for asking.
