The laser printer is only £34 with full ink cartridge and toner but is refurbished but looks like new. I could get a new inkjet for a similar price — but the laser would be cheaper and quicker.

If the laser printer meets your needs, go ahead and get it, especially if you do high-volume printing.
Usually it comes down to the choice between a black & white laser and a color inkjet printer.

How much is laser printer ink? Usually Laser ink cost more then inkjet. But Laser Ink usually last a little longer thats why its better for work environment, but not really that great for home.
See how much replacement ink is for the laser and how much it is for the inkjet.

If you just need to print black then absolutely go with the laser.
If you really really need colour then you will have to go inkjet.

It really depends on what you are doing Lasers are initially more expensive but do big volume jobs fast…inkjets are great for occasional use that can “do it all” but NOT volume…Ink jet ink is very expensive in the long run as compared to laser toner…SO…inkjet for low volume…laser for hi volume printing.
