@punkisexichik That happened to me once refilling my Dell. After some research, I believe I made the mistake of running the printheads under very hot water to unclog them. I read that hot water may damage the micro-components in the printhead causing the colors to mix.

Well, contrary to some of these comments, I have have had pretty good luck refilling my HP cartridges especially the black ones. I have also bought a few online on the big auction site for as little as $6.99. I had a little trouble with a Dell cartridge I refilled, but got one of those for the same price, same place.

the best thing to do is get a color laser printer, the toners are not much more expansive than inkjet’s. I bought my Samsung CLP-315, and I love it, I go it from OfficeMax for $125 with all the discounts!!! The toner last forever, they cost about $45 each, but last sooooo much longer. Only con I have is that it won’t print any cards……it will jam, but any paper is ok.

@moderndesignworks. Agreed, no joke. Right now I have problems with a new tri-color cartridge & it is giving me hell. And one of these cartridges cost $40 & more. The cartridges doesn’t work long at all.

The trick is to “top off” the cartridges each week rather than refilling them when they become empty. Otherwise, fill them as soon as you get a message that the ink is running low. Topping-off avoids the problems of refilling and extends the life of the cartridge.

June 27th, 2010 at 10:45 am
I tried and I opened the HP cartridge. It was very simple cheap sponge, little bit of ink print head, plastic cover, thats all, Remove the cover and refill the full sponge and use tissue till the ink finally comes out

ffs didnt work :@

HP is a total rip off on the cartridges. Refilling the HP cart. sometimes works, most of the time doesn’t. Leaking, smear, bad printing all the time. Never buy a HP printer, you will be much better off to get a Canon or a Epson printer with separate cartridges which cost a lot less in the long run, both time and money. You can buy Canon or Epson black and color cartridges online for about $1.50 each!!!

the air will get inside and dry the ink.
